Student Council

In September we held Committee elections in Scoil Moling Glynn. The following students were elected to the Student Council (2025-2026):

We have been busy organising Halloween Dress-Up Day for Temple Street Children’s Hospital and encouraging the pupils to get involved with the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We will continue to focus on Wellbeing this year and we also have loads of ideas in mind for the rest of the year!

June 2025

On Friday, June 12th we very proudly raised our renewed Amber Flag. The Amber Flag initiative recognises the efforts of schools to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being.

A big well done to our whole school community and a particular word of thanks to our Student Council who organised many lovely activities and events to promote well-being.

April 2025

Our Student Council have been very busy working towards our renewal of our Amber Flag. The Amber Flag initiative promotes mental health awareness, this links strongly with our school self evaluation focus which is Wellbeing.

Our Student Council facilitated Friendship Week which consisted ofMusical Monday, Thoughtful Tuesday, Work Out Wednesday, Talent Thursdayand Feel Good Friday. We had a great week of fun and friendship in the sunshine!

February 2025

Our Student Council has been very busy playing an active role in the review process of our Healthy Lunch Policy. The Student Council delivered a lesson to all our pupils on healthy eating. This was followed by a Healthy Breakfast, where pupils were given the opportunity to sample some healthy breakfast options, such as, porridge, fruit, honey and brown bread.

December 2024

Our Student Council donated €123.31 to the Trick or Treat for Temple Street Charity and over 50 shoeboxes were donated to the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal.

The Student Council organised some fantastic Halloween activities in aid of Trick or Treat for Temple Street for our 'Dress Up Day' on Friday, 25th October. We were also busy with the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

We will continue to focus on Wellbeing this year and we will be applying to renew our Amber Flag over the coming months.

March 2024

In the Student Council, we have been very busy throughout the last few weeks planning for events such as World Book Day and Seachtain na Gaeilge. For World Book Day we did a parade and a drama. For Seachtain na Gaeilge we had an all-Irish day. We had a Lá Glas and of all the students participated in a parade, a céilí and a tráth na gceist. In term three we are going to be organising lots of fun activities to enhance pupil wellbeing.

February 2024

During our recent Open Afternoon, our members of the Student Council in the senior room were busy showcasing all the work our Student Council do. The Student Council were very pleased to hear all the positive feedback they received on events that took place during term 1. We continue to focus on the area of Wellbeing and are busy discussing lots of ideas to promote the wellbeing of everybody in our school. We look forward to putting many of our ideas into practice during terms two and three.

December 2024

Our Student Council donated €131.40 to the Trick or Treat for Temple Street Charity and over 50 shoeboxes were donated to the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal. The Student Council have been busy lately. They have been involved in many discussions on Wellbeing in our school community. They have been busy planning a Christmas Jumper Day for the 21st of December. They have created a wonderful timetable of activities for the day. On the day, the children will exchange Christmas cards and enjoy a Christmas story with their buddies. We look forward to working on many initiatives in the New Year!

October 2024

The Student Council are organising some Hallowe’en activities in aid of Trick or Treat for Temple Street for our dress-up day on Friday 27th October.

We are also busy with the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We will be collecting shoeboxes on Wednesday 8th November.

The Student Council has started working towards renewing the Amber Flag this year.
